3 Steps to Take When You Discover Signs of Daycare Abuse
Having children is a beautiful experience. This child is someone who is a mini version of you and your partner, a little human who looks up to you. You probably would do anything for your child. Most parents send their kids to daycare, thinking that it would be a fun experience for the kids. But, what happens when you send them to daycare with good intentions, only to find out the daycare center is abusive? Unfortunately, this happens more often than we think. Daycare should be a benefit for both the parents and the children. The parents get to focus on work and providing for their family while the children socialize and enjoy time with other children. This situation is the case for many; however, we still hear too many stories about daycare abuse and neglect.
If you have recently found your family in this situation, our team at Bernstein | Polsky sympathize and are here for you. No family should ever be in this situation. But, if you are, we have created this guide to make the process of getting justice easier.
Step 1: Contact the Local Authorities
If you are even suspicious of daycare abuse or neglect, contact your state authorities right away. You can never be too cautious or safe when it comes to your children and other family’s children. Kids are not able to defend themselves or stand up for themselves the way adults can, making it that much more important to step in. In your situation, you probably already have evidence of the abuse or have witnessed the abuse. Call the state authorities still and let them know what is going on. Be sure to document all of the evidence and proof that something is going on at the daycare center. If you can get other parents who are experiencing the daycare abuse as well to document and report the daycare center, that would be even better.
Step 2: Call a Daycare Abuse Attorney
When your children have been abused or neglected at the hands of their daycare center, then it is time to ensure justice is served. No child deserves this treatment and what can come with it. From needing justice to maybe even needing therapy, you and your family should not have to pay for what others wrongfully did to your children. Here at Bernstein | Polsky, we can work with you on a free consultation call to see if your case is one we can pursue. We will be able to let you know what the likely outcome will be and how we can assist you. If you choose to pursue the case, we will do everything in our power to ensure your family sees the justice it deserves. No daycare center who abuses or neglects kids should be allowed to operate.
Step 3: Seek Out Additional Resources
Dealing with child abuse is something many cannot relate to. It’s a traumatic experience regardless of the severity of the abuse, from minor to severe it can leave an impact. No child should ever have to go through something traumatic; however, if abuse or neglect does occur, getting them help immediately will help with the healing process. Resources such as therapy can be a great help with the child recovering from what happened. If your child was injured or hurt by the abuse, seek help from a doctor or healthcare provider. You want to make sure the injuries are treated and do not worsen. There also could be injuries that are not noticeable to the naked eye. Ruling out all severe circumstances is a priority.
